모리스타운은 제11 연방 하원 선거구에 위치하며, 뉴저지주 제25 주 입법 선거구에 속한다.[172][173][174][175]

제118대 미국 연방 의회에서, 제11 선거구는 미키 셰릴 (민주당, 몬트클레어)이 대표한다.[176] 뉴저지는 미국 상원에서 코리 부커 (민주당, 뉴어크, 임기 2027년 만료)와 앤디 김 (민주당, 무어스타운, 임기 2031년 만료)이 대표한다.[177][178]

2024-2025 회기에서, 제25 입법 선거구는 주 상원에서 앤서니 M. 부코 (공화당, 분턴 타운십)가, 하원에서는 크리스찬 바라코 (공화당, 제퍼슨 타운십)와 아우라 K. 던 (공화당, 멘덤 보로)이 대표한다.[179]

2019년 6월 기준으로 모리스타운에는 총 11,330명의 유권자가 등록되어 있었다. 이 중 5,087명(44.9%)은 민주당, 2,208명(19.5%)은 공화당, 4,035명(35.6%)은 무소속으로 등록되었다.[195] 2011년 3월 23일 기준 등록 유권자는 9,259명이었으며, 이 중 3,905명(42.2%)은 민주당, 1,648명(17.8%)은 공화당, 3,698명(39.9%)은 무소속이었다.[409]

9. 교육

모리스 교육구는 모리스 타운십과 모리스타운의 학생들을 대상으로 하는 지역 공립 교육구이며, 모리스 플레인스의 고등학생(9~12학년)들도 송수신 관계의 일환으로 고등학교에 다닌다.[205][206][207] 2018-19학년도 기준, 10개 학교의 학생 수는 5,216명, 교사 수는 441.4명(전일제 환산 기준)으로 학생-교사 비율은 11.8:1이었다.[208]

  • 델바톤 스쿨: 7학년부터 12학년까지 약 540명의 남학생을 가르치는 로마 가톨릭 학교로, 이전에는 신학교였으나 1939년부터 일반 학생을 받고 있다.[227]

세인트 엘리자베스 자선 수녀회가 1860년 모리스타운에 설립한 세인트 엘리자베스 아카데미는 1895년 시 경계 재조정으로[19] 인접한 모리스 타운십의 컨벤트 스테이션 지역에 위치하게 되었다.

모리스타운역


모리스타운은 대중 교통 지향 개발(transit-oriented development)을 구현하려 시도했다. 1999년에 뉴저지 주 최초의 5개 "대중교통 마을(transit village)" 중 하나로 지정되었으며,[234] 역 주변 지역을 복합 용도로 지정하기 위해 구역 지정 코드를 "대중 교통 마을 코어"로 변경했다.[235]

287번 주간 고속도로 북쪽 모리스타운


2010년 5월 기준으로, 모리스타운은 총 약 64.34km의 도로를 보유하고 있으며, 이 중 약 47.85km는 시에서, 약 8.09km는 모리스 카운티에서, 약 8.40km는 뉴저지 교통부(New Jersey Department of Transportation)에서 관리한다.[232]

주간 고속도로 287은 모리스타운으로 접근할 수 있는 주요 고속도로이며, 35번 출구와 36번 출구, 두 개의 인터체인지가 시내에 위치해 있다.[233] 모리스타운을 통과하는 다른 주요 도로로는 미국 202번 국도, 뉴저지 주도 124, 카운티 노선 510 등이 있다.

10. 2. 대중 교통

뉴저지 교통국(NJ Transit)은 모리스타운 역(Morristown station)에서 철도 서비스를 제공하며,[236] 이 역에서는 모리스타운 선(Morristown Line)을 통해 뉴어크 브로드 스트리트(Newark Broad Street), 세코커스 정션(Secaucus Junction), 뉴욕 펜실베이니아 역(Pennsylvania Station (New York)), 호보켄 터미널(Hoboken Terminal)로 이동할 수 있다.[237] 이 도시는 뉴저지 교통국이 1990년대에 도입한 "미드타운 다이렉트(Midtown Direct)" 서비스로 인해 뉴욕 시로의 통근 시간이 단축되는 혜택을 받았다.

NJ 트랜짓의 지역 버스 서비스는 871, 872, 873, 874, 875 및 880 버스 노선을 통해 모리스타운 기차역, 모리스타운 메디컬 센터 및 헤드쿼터스 플라자에서 제공되며,[238][239] 이는 2010년까지 MCM1, MCM2, MCM3, MCM4, MCM8 및 MCM10 노선에서 제공되던 서비스를 대체한 것이다. 당시 예산 삭감의 일환으로 지역 제공업체에 대한 보조금이 삭감되었다.[240][241]

커뮤니티 코치(Community Coach)는 버스 노선 77을 통해 뉴욕 시와 모리스타운 간의 일일 서비스를 제공한다.[242]

이 도시의 공공 사업부는 모리스타운 내에서 무료 교통 서비스를 제공하는 "콜로니얼 코치"를 운영한다.[243]

소규모 화물 노선인 모리스타운 및 이리 철도(Morristown and Erie Railway)의 위파니 선이 이 타운십을 통과한다. 1895년에 설립된 이 노선은 모리스타운에서 시작하여 뉴저지주 이스트 하노버 타운십(East Hanover Township, New Jersey)과 뉴저지주 하노버 타운십(Hanover Township, New Jersey)을 거쳐 뉴저지주 로즈랜드(Roseland, New Jersey)까지 운행한다.[244]

10. 3. 항공

모리스타운 시립 공항은 가장 가까운 공항이다. 모리스타운에서 소유하고 있지만, 공항은 모리스타운에서 동쪽으로 약 4.83km 떨어진 인근 해노버 타운십에 위치해 있다.[245]

뉴어크 리버티 국제공항(Newark Liberty International Airport)은 뉴어크/엘리자베스에 있으며, 정기 여객 서비스가 제공되는 가장 가까운 공항이다. 24번 국도와 78번 고속도로를 통해 약 20분 거리에 있다.
